Adrian Ramsay MP Backs The New Hunting Ban

The New Hunting Ban is pleased to announce that Adrian Ramsay, Green Party MP and the party’s spokesperson for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, has officially joined the campaign as a supporting MP.

His support comes at a pivotal moment, with the government expected to bring forward a consultation on trail hunting in the coming months. The New Hunting Ban is working with parliamentarians from across the political spectrum to secure stronger, more effective legislation to end hunting with hounds.

In December, The New Hunting Ban delivered its detailed legislative recommendations for a final end to hunting with hounds in England and Wales. The proposals, available at https://thenewhuntingban.com/legislative-recommendations, set out what the campaign describes as a new gold standard in hunting law. The organisation is now urging the Government to adopt these measures as policy during the forthcoming consultation on trail hunting.

Adrian Ramsay, Green Party MP for Waveney Valley, said:

“I’m delighted to be a supporting MP of the New Hunting Ban campaign. After our last meeting, I was keen to officially back the group's important work.

Ending hunting with hounds is a vital step to protect animals, and I’m proud to stand with the campaign as we push for laws that reflect the values of a modern, compassionate society.”

The New Hunting Ban was established to address inherent loopholes and enforcement challenges in existing hunting legislation. Drawing on legal expertise and first-hand experience of hunt monitoring and sabotage, the campaign advocates for robust reforms that would finally bring an end to hunting with hounds in practice as well as in principle.

Rhys Giles, Director of The New Hunting Ban, said:

“Adrian has an unparalleled record on animal rights and has led the Green Party in developing its well-informed, bold and comprehensive position against hunting with hounds. We’re proud to have his vote of confidence in our work.”
